Beauty Crowds Me: an Homage to Beauty

Harpist Jayne demakos

A compilation disc featuring Samite; the Ithaca College Women's Chorale; Elizabeth Simpkin on cello; Nicholas Walker on Double Bass; the Schola Cantorum at Hospicare and Jayne Demakos on Harp. Inspired by Emily Dickinson who writes "Beauty Crowds Me til I die, Beauty mercy have on me....."   this CD offers 12 tracks to make up Beauty Crowds M: an Homage to Beauty. The liner notes from the CD say, “ Music, in its disarming beauty, can help draw us closer to our experiences, whether of joy or sorrow, peace or longing, loss or comfort.  A quote attributed to Isak Dinesen says, “All sorrows can be borne if you tell a story about them.”  Music tells our stories in the soul’s language and is a way we tell our stories to each other’s hearts. It is our hope with this CD that we may touch both what we love and what challenges us—sadness, grief, despair—more deeply, with tenderness, compassion and shared humanity. May we be companions to Beauty and to each other. “
